1.  How long will i have to wait if I order an escape?

Since the Escape is a new model, they are busy filling orders as soon as they can.  Some people who ordered in July have recieved their Escapes, while people who ordered in March are still waiting.  After Escape gets established, we'll se a more structured order and delivery schedule.
 

2.  With this being a new model, how much should I expect to pay?

Some Tribute buyers are reporting that Mazda is charging "addidtional dealer markup" ADM in ADDITION to MSRP.  You can read all about this at Carbuyingtips.com .  Escape buyers at the yahoo Escape Club report figures from $200 under dealer invoice to MSRP.  It all depends on your dealer and negotiation tactics.

3.  Where is the Escape manufactured?

At the Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, MO.

4.  What engines are offered?

Ford Offers Escape with a 120HP  5-Speed Manual Transmission, and a 200HP 3.0L V-6 Automatic Transmission.    At the present time, manual is not available with the 200 HP Engine, and Automatic is not avaiable wiith the 120HP engine.

5.  What is Control Trac II 4x4?

Control Trac II features a rotary switch on the instrument panel to select automatic four-wheel drive with variable torque split or “4x4 On” to lock the system into 4x4 mode

6.  What's the difference between the XLS and XLT Models?

XLS is the base model of the Escape.  It comes with a 4- cylinder 2.0 L Zetec engine and a five-speed manual transmission, with a base price of  $18,160. Standard features include air conditioning, an AM/FM-stereo with a CD player, remote keyless entry, a tilting steering wheel, and power locks, windows, and mirrors.

XLT is the upscale model, and includes ABS, aluminum wheels, cruise control, and fog lamps.  Base price for this model is $19,195. 

7.  How much can the Escape tow?

The XLT model with  V-6 and all-wheel drive comes with the $350 Class II trailer-towing package, which ups towing capacity from 2000 pounds to 3500.
 
 8.  How much horsepower does the escape have?

The 3.0l v-6 engine has 200hp.

The 2.0L I4 DOHC SMPI 16-valve engine has 110hp.

 

9.  How safe is Escape?

The Escape is equipped with several saftey features such as standard Second Generation Front Airbags, Optional Side Airbags, Available 4 wheel ABS brakes (statndard on XLT models)
 

9.  What Recalls have been issued for Escape/Tribute?

Here is a listing of all recalls issued for the Escape. 

10.  Is Escape affected by the Firestone Recall?

The Escape 16" wheels are Firestone Wilderness HT, which are currently not affected by the Firestone Recall.  I've heard rumblings that they are being looked into as well, but there is nothing confirmed.

11.  I keep seeing pictures of an Escpae with an Xterra like Roof Rack, where can I get one?

That particular Escape is a concept model.  There is rumor and  speculation that a variation of it may be released as a special edition in the 2002 model year, but is not currently available at this time.

12.  What kind of aftermarket products are there for Escape?
